New to me, only idiots buy NEW cars...lololol

drive a new car off the lot...immediately lose $5,000.

However the logic follows with new cars too (note the use of the word "example")

Then I have a large ammo box I got from value village for storing those...however I keep that in my car as a tool box.

The jeep dealership offered me 3k more for my jeep than I paid for it 6 years ago. Lol

I heard a story on the local news a week or so ago where a USED Dodge charger sold for 8k more than the price of a new one (because of a waiting list on new ones).

    oooo, i get it now.

your trying to arbitrage a more desireable car for a less desirable one. because you want to save a few hundreds.

    is that it,

yes and no, the undesirability of the SUV is actually now desirable to me...as I now have a regular need for something I can hump my highly scientific equipment around in and also sleep in the fucker if I need too...not possible in the current commuter car...at least not comfortably.

My car is a 2014, that suv I linked is also 2014. My car has 140,000 miles on it, that SUV has 21,000. It's basically a good deal to switch them out and pay 10k for bigger vehicle servicing my space needs and getting 120k miles "back".

what vehicle are you trying to buy ? i cant see the site yiu linked because my accesses are denied.

and are you going to buy it now ? anyway the era of cheap oil is over now so enjoy paying arms and legs to gass it up.

i bet thats exactly why you wanted a gas guzzling vehicle. because you enjoy spending more on gasses.

Well again that was just an example...I'm not planning on "swapping out" right this second but if I saw the "right" deal and my current car value went up even further I might make the leap.

Gas is currently 2.70 a gallon here, I currently use about 3 gallons a day...that would increase to maybe 5 a day with a similar such SUV.

I don't enjoy paying money for ANTHING...I though it was pretty clear by now I'm a thrifty son of a lovely mother...but I'd sooner pay a bit more in gas and have the ability to comfortably move my shit around and again sleep in said vehicle when I'm in the middle of nowhere rather than in a tent (in which the bogeyman could get me)

do you have a target of how much its going to be or is this another perpetual see-first thing of an excuse you came up with.

it might go up and i anticipate there be some form of punitive taxes on inefficient ego-mobiles.

why not just have both of them.

Because that doesn't make economic sense duh.

I'd have to pay the full price for car #2, more on insurance to cover both cars, 2 inspections, 2x the maintenance schedule etc.

...the whole thrifty thing isn't computing with you is it...the rich don't stay rich by throwing their money around unnecessarily

for rich people these payments are simply insignificant and negligible.

Spoken like a poor person who doesn't know how to handle money.

We have this saying back in the good ol United Kingdom.

    "PENNIES MAKE POUNDS MOTHERFINGER!"

Many rich people are also many of the most thrifty and tight fisted.

No, again I don't keep tabs on it, Credit Karma does. I just read it when they update it.

Suggesting that reading a 1 line sentence is "keeping tabs" on something is typical of a communist.
