Im starting an fm radio station

So on Amazon you can buy fm receivers, most with a range of up to a thousand feet some more than that.
I’ll be broadcasting mainly for myself but I thought about maybe hosting a local radio station for the public.

Youll have to look into fcc regulations for transmitting and its unlikely theyll allow any powerful FM transmission without a license, and unlikely to allow in a residential area.

Internet radio sure but FM probably not.

I remember that a few years ago there was a radio station that might have been done by the high school kids that was allowed that only had enough power to reach the local school district (+/-) and gives local news, events and music (I think). Kinda vague on the details as never listened but definitely remember the announcement.

I don't quite think this is a fully fleshed out plan. Maybe look into what it takes to run a pirate radio station and the repercussions before you buy something that doesn't broadcast anything.

Hes probably meant to say transmitter rather than receiver, as there are lots of bluetooth / fm transceivers.

Most are neither a transmitter or receiver, but a combo. A transceiver. People love hijacking them though.

Edit; not a bad idea, just enough transmitting power for your neighbors. Several people i know were well respected djs.

Maybe something like a repeater but for fm to get around fcc limitations on single devices

Edit, ah it seems like a lot of transceivers can also double as repeaters although youd probably need modified software

Unlicensed operation on the AM and FM radio broadcast bands is permitted for some extremely low powered devices covered under Part 15 of the FCC's rules. On FM frequencies, these devices are limited to an effective service range of approximately 200 feet (61 meters).

You could take several 15$ bluetooth fm transceivers and network them as repeaters maybe. Dunno if legal

    About this item
1.PAIR IN SECONDS: Just plug the optimum Bluetooth FM Transmitter into the car cigarette lighter, tune the car radio to the same frequency (range from 87.5 to 108 MHz). Then let your phone/audio player pair it via Bluetooth/USB flash driver.
2.2 PORTS USB CAR CHARGER: Comes with 5V-2.4A and 5V-1A charging ports which output 3.4A total, support charging two devices simultaneously, better-charging performance!
3.ANSWER CALLS HANDS-FREE: High-performance microphone with Noise Suppression (CVC) technology, grants you crystal clear call. Answering/redialing/dismissing or ending a call just simply click a button. Seamlessly switches between incoming calls and music; Drive more safely.
4.IMMERSE IN HiFi MUSIC: Insert a USB flash drive which contains MP3 files into the "RIGHT" USB port and enjoys it. If that's not enough, it can also support your playlist with a full range of audible frequencies with no distortions of the original signal from your MP3, iPhone, Android Smartphones and more Bluetooth enabled devices.
5.WIDE COMPATIBILITY: Bluetooth Car FM Transmitter can be paired as a hands-free kit with all Bluetooth enabled devices, such as iPhone, iPad, Tablet, Samsung, HTC, Sony and other Andriod Smartphones; Stream music and calls directly from your mobile devices to car stereo system via FM radio signal ( 87.5-108.0 MHz)

Something like that, but with a better range as im guessing that one isnt meant to be long.

Fm being much lower frequency can travel further using less power than bluetooth i think

Well hes kind of nuts so hes probably not too worried about the fcc.

Thats a good one, 1/4 mile range, theres lots of good schematics online, but since he wants it for music he may as well get one of the bluetooth capable ones.

I wish we had bots to bump intellectual or technical threads to cover up the npc threads. Instead like 4chan, we have Wellhung type bots to do the opposite.

I realize people want any excuse to bash hiki as he is an insufferable twat half the time, but nitpicking at an obvious typo? He knows the difference between a receiver and transmitter.

A typo is when you accidently type the letter "d" instead of "s"...replacing a word with an entirely different word is not a typo...fucking lol.

Nope, we had this discussion over 15 years ago, and it was determined that i am the one who makes the definitions of things.

And i call it a " whole word typo "
