The Chinese Communist Party isn't really communist though, the term 'Socialism with Chinese Characteristics' seems accurate enough to me - they still have a 'free market', it's just more tightly regulated and state-aligned than the west. Social life is definitely more tightly-constrained and regimented than you or I are used to, but there isn't much organic friction against it - groups like Falun Gong and the Uighyirs get a megaphone in the west in an attempt to hurt China politically but a lot of those 'crackdowns' are fabricated or exaggerated for international audiences.
tl;dr: I don't think I'd much like living there either, but outside of their autonomous territories (ie. Hong Kong, Taiwan) I haven't seen any examples of them exporting their society or style of government, unlike the US who have been doing it by force for decades (and Europe for centuries). -

I guess you're right. I mean, you can call it whatever you want. They're the closest thing to communism and they call themselves the communist party. Most of their population has a household income of only a few thousand dollars. They get what the state allows them to have. I see that as communism, if not then it's oligarchy with elitists shitting on everybody at a level which makes capitalism look like child's play.
