Does putting a DVD in a microwave actually wipe the data like in movies or do I need to do something else like take a big magnet to them or burn them?

the common wisdom among pedros is 'dont put all your little girls in one big van'.

divide them among a few small vans. that way if you lost one van, you dont lose all your little girls.

no. the microwave melted the aluminum coatings, but residual imprints burned onto the aluminum coating will still be left on the polycarbonate disc.

these imprints can be scanned and data be reconstructed.
