Trump's Sarasota Rally Trolled by Plane Flashing 'Loser-Palooza' Sign (Video)
    Andi Ortiz

Donald Trump's "Save America" rally in Sarasota, Florida, on Saturday night was once again met by a throng of his supporters — and a plane flying overhead with a scrolling neon sign dubbing the event "Loser-Palooza."

"These are loser rallies where the biggest loser of them all whines, further incriminates himself, and rants and raves like a lunatic," Brett Meiselas of MeidasTouch, the company responsible for the plane tells TheWrap. "The name 'loser palooza' describes it perfectly and we thought it was important to remind all those who attended they do not represent the winning spirit of America."

MeidasTouch, a political action committee formed in March 2020 for the singular purpose of preventing the re-election of Donald Trump, promptly took responsibility for the prank online as well, posting a video of the plane's journey on Twitter. "It's a bird, it's a plane, it's our #LoserPalooza plane flying over the Trump loser fest," it wrote.

MeidasTouch later posted video obtained from the ground looking up.

"LoserPalooza" quickly began trending overnight, with Trump critics using it to bash more than just his rallies. Many praised the fact that it reminded the former president that he lost the 2020 election fairly, despite his false claims that the results were "rigged."

The rally was held 3 1/2 hours almost directly due west of Surfside, where crews of first responders continue to search for survivors in the collapse of a residential building outside Miami Beach. As a result of those efforts, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was not in attendance at the rally.

Though Trump did call for a brief moment of silence for the victims and families of the tragedy before he began speaking, he almost immediately launched into his usual talking points, slamming cancel culture and the Biden administration.

MeidasTouch Flies 'LoserPalooza' Banner Over Trump Rally in Florida, Hashtag Trends on Twitter
    Benjamin Fearnow

Former President Donald Trump's second major post-White House rally in Florida Saturday night was the scene of both raucous Republican campaigning as well as trolling from both land and sky.

MeidasTouch—the vigilantly anti-Trump group founded by the three Meiselas brothers Ben, Brett and Jordan—were behind a neon light-adorned plane that trolled the skies above Trump's "Save America" rally in Sarasota. The flashing aircraft featured a bright sign that simply read "LOSER-PALOOZA," and was promptly noted by local TV news channels and rallygoer cell phone videos posted to social media.

"I think after tonight, the evidence is conclusive. The gang at @MeidasTouch are the #1 Trump Trollers on planet earth. They own the ground and sky in this category after tonight. #LoserPalooza," one fellow Trump critic tweeted early Sunday morning, sharing a picture of the MeidasTouch-purchased plane.

    It's a bird, it's a plane, it's our #LoserPalooza plane flying over the Trump loser fest pic.twitter.com/H5RggpgT4q

"It's a bird, it's a plane, it's our #LoserPalooza plane flying over the Trump loser fest," the MeidasTouch.com Twitter account gloated Saturday night. The group posted cell phone video recorded from onboard the aircraft as well as footage recorded by people on the ground.

"Aw, did we ruin your white supremacist safe space? #LoserPalooza," the MeidasTouch account quipped Sunday, responding to a Trump supporter who demanded to know how such a plane could "fly over a no fly zone for almost an hour without being forced out of the sky!"

Videos posted across social media juxtapose Trump's typical rally remarks alongside footage of the plane flying above the Sarasota Fairgrounds Saturday night. The former president spoke for about 90 minutes.

The "Retire Rubio" political action committee, a separate group that routinely targets Florida GOP Senator Marco Rubio, organized a similarly protest of its own outside the Sarasota Fairgrounds. A large box truck featured a sign that read "Retire 'Little' Marco,' and depicted the 5-foot-9-inch-tall senator appearing tiny while sitting in a massive chair.

Another vehemently anti-Trump political group, the ex-Republican-run Lincoln Project, also sought to troll the former president this weekend. On Friday, the Lincoln Project released a video that mocked Trump's ongoing feud with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell: "Does Mitch call the shots now, Donald? He's the boss now."

During a Saturday interview with Newsmax prior to the Florida rally, Trump continued blasting McConnell for not having overturned the 2020 presidential election results in his favor.

Two other single-engine aircraft were spotted near the Sarasota Trump rally Saturday with signs reading "Convict Trump and Lock Him UP!" as well as "Trump: Worst President Ever."

Newsweek reached out to representatives at the former president's super PAC for any additional remarks about the rally and its attendees.

White Supremacists March Through Philadelphia, Get Chased Away by Angry Onlookers
    Daniel Politi

Around 150 white supremacists marched in front of Philadelphia City Hall late on Saturday night. The marchers were part of the Patriot Front, a known white supremacist group based in Texas, and they wore white face coverings while waving flags and shields. Some also carried signs that read “Reclaim America” and chanted “the election was stolen” while they marched. Police said none of the marchers were from Philadelphia.

It seems the white supremacists had their march cut short by angry onlookers who made their feelings clear about having white supremacists openly espousing their views on the streets of Philadelphia. The onlookers started yelling at the protesters and there were a few scuffles with the white supremacists. A witness said the marchers often tossed smoke bombs and then used that as a cover to hit and kick counterprotesters. Although police were present, they apparently didn’t get really involved as counterportesters and white supremacists traded blows.

Police said the onlookers eventually chased the white supremacists away. “They started engaging with citizens of Philadelphia, who were none too happy about what they were saying. These males felt threatened, and at one point somebody threw a smoke bomb to cover their retreat, and they literally ran away from the people of Philadelphia,” police officer Michael Crum told local ABC affiliate WPVI. Police later pulled over the trucks the white supremacists were traveling in for safety reasons.

The Anti-Defamation League defines the Patriot Front as “a white supremacist group whose members maintain that their ancestors conquered America and bequeathed it solely to them.” Patriot Front members are known to organize “localized flash mob demonstrations,” which is what appears to have taken place in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

Even though the march didn’t last long, experts who monitor extremist groups say it’s troubling that such a large group of Patriot Front members descended on Philadelphia during a holiday weekend. They say it demonstrates how the group has become increasingly active in Pennsylvania and likely took to the streets in a bit to not only spread its message but also recruit new members. “It’s like they’re saying, ‘We’re here. We’re nearby,’” Shira Goodman, the regional director of the Anti-Defamation League’s Philadelphia chapter, told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “The danger is always there. We know these groups have become more emboldened in recent years, and that things that have been in the shadows of the internet have come off-line.”

Do you hate black nationalists or jedi nationalists?

jedi nationalists are genociding brown people in Palestine at this very minute.

Why are there laws being made right now to make supporting white nationalism illegal, and make criticising jedi nationalism illegal too?

Why do you hate white people, bro?

What I find funny is that they think that they can get along with non-whites, but they have the same problems with non-whites that they do with whites.

They are just fucked up people and the problem is them, no one else.

    Giuliani

    Aghast

    Business Insider
Trump has cut off Rudy Giuliani, and is annoyed that he asked to be paid for his work on challenging the election, book says
    wbostock@businessinsider.com (Bill Bostock)

Giuliani spearheaded Trump's legal attempt to overturn the 2020 election result until February.

Giuliani has reportedly been asking Trump to pay his legal fees for weeks, but has been ignored.

Trump and his family have also cast off Giuliani, according to a new book from Michael Wolff.

Donald Trump's family has cut off Rudy Giuliani, and the former president has been irked that the lawyer asked to be paid for his work challenging the 2020 election, according to a new book.

On Sunday, The Times of London published an excerpt from "Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency," the upcoming book on the Trump presidency from the author Michael Wolff.

In the extract, Wolff describes Trump's post-presidency life at his Mar-a-Lago resort, and how Trump is frustrated by the lack of progress in his quest to overturn the 2020 election result.

Giuliani, a longtime ally and personal lawyer of the president, started leading the Trump campaign's efforts to overturn the election on November 4, but departed sometime in February after a series of setbacks.

Since then, reports have detailed how Giuliani and his allies have sought to get paid for the legal work, but to no avail, falling foul of the president in the process.

"Trump is annoyed that he [Giuliani] tried to get paid for his election challenge work," Wolff wrote, per The Times.

"Giuliani, now beset by crushing investigations and potentially millions of dollars in legal costs, has publicly implored the Trump family and aides ... to have the Trump campaign, with its great wealth, indemnify him - and has gotten only the cold shoulder."

Trump's family has "cast out, cut off" Giuliani, the excerpt said, without specifying which members of the clan.

Giuliani is currently the subject of a Justice Department investigation into whether he broke foreign lobbying laws while working as Trump's lawyer. Giuliani has not been charged.

According to Wolff, Trump has also taken to asking visitors to his Mar-a-Lago resort "if they know any good" lawyers to help him continue his plan to overturn the election via the US courts.

Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

The amount owed to Giuliani by Trump is not known but, at one point, Maria Ryan, an aide and rumored girlfriend of Giuliani, told the Trump campaign that his rate for working on the election challenge was $20,000 a day, The New York Times reported.

In mid-January, both The Washington Post and The New York Times reported that Trump had instructed his aides not to pay Giuliani his legal fees following Trump's second impeachment.

The New York Times noted at the time that White House officials also started blocking Giuliani's calls to Trump.

According to an excerpt from another book about Trump - "Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost" by the Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Bender - published by the Daily Mail, Trump regularly insulted Giuliani while they worked together.

In one instance, Bender wrote, Trump mocked Giuliani for falling asleep in a meeting.
