The argument is if you own a piece of land YOU should be the one making the decisions of what happens to and on that piece of land. If Nature decides to send 100 gallons of water my way I'm going to do what I want with it...the guy downstream? tough luck for buying land downstream.

When I bought my 6 acres up in Conroe I bought the land AT THE TOP OF THE HILL...Why? because shit floods in Texas. When the creek flooded and the guy AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL got 8ft of water in his house that's his stupid fault...you following the logic here?

yes, you and 30 other men at arm which you have to hire because the guy down stream have just hired 20 negroes with guns to try to seize your water and land.

in the end its still a community effort for you and your men to protect your water resources.

Again, I grow potatoes and tomatoes for myself...no one helps me...it's not a community effort. PAYING people/OWNING people also doesn't qualify as a community effort. There's an implication in the term "community effort" that suggests everyone has an equal and vested interest in getting the job done...that's a falsity.

It's also at the land owners discretion...who he hires, what he pays them, what he does with the final product/produce. HE is making the decisions...not the "community".

My hobby is Astronomy...according to you I can only have 1 at a time.

I don't grow veggies as a hobby, I eat them, they fuel my body...they taste better than store bought.

    Farming is farming.

No it's certainly not a fucking pleasure to toil the land in Texas heat...It's a need, I need potatoes and tomatoes and again they taste 10x better than store bought.

There are plenty of "off grid" families growing their own food...without a community helping them.

    on commercial scale,

    yes ?

Yes..or course...lol You think the world supplies of opium and Marywanna are grown on someone's kitchen window ledge?

    lololol

Who mentioned legal? and why are you limiting it to the USA?

The point here is a land owner SHOULD be able to do and grow what he wants on his own land and use any resources on it as he sees fit.

Water is a global thing...if "The people" own the water and not the landowner then equally NO singular government can own it either...they are then effectively "the farmer" to the rest of the worlds governments...as such they have no "right" to tell someone what they can do with the water...as they themselves don't have any ownership of the water...if no singular farmer has a right to use the resources on his land as he sees fit, then it follows no singular government can either...

Lets say there was a lake in Canada and it was fed from a river in USA...USA dams up the river and the lake in Canada dries up. Canada complains that USA is stealing their water, USA says fuckoff its our water...same thing as the farmer telling his downstream neighbor to fuck off.

Though "opium poppy and poppy straw" are listed in Schedule II of the United States' Controlled Substances Act, P. somniferum can be grown legally in the United States as a seed crop or ornamental flower.

That poppy seeded bagel you get from starbucks is quite legal...

the government still have control over what you plant by controlling what you can legally harvest.
