Why Arabs Lose Wars - Because they don't use line infantry

https://www.meforum.org/441/why-arabs-lose-warsArabic-speaking armies have been generally ineffective in the modern era. Egyptian regular forces did poorly against Yemeni irregulars in the 1960s. Syrians could only impose their will in Lebanon during the mid-1970s by the use of overwhelming weaponry and numbers. Iraqis showed ineptness against an Iranian military ripped apart by revolutionary turmoil in the 1980s and could not win a three-decades-long war against the Kurds. The Arab military performance on both sides of the 1990 Kuwait war was mediocre. And the Arabs have done poorly in nearly all the military confrontations with Israel. Why this unimpressive record? There are many factors—economic, ideological, technical—but perhaps the most important has to do with culture and certain societal attributes which inhibit Arabs from producing an effective military force.
I saw this video and it got me thinking about this. How line infantry was used for most of history and that platoon tactics is only a more recent invention since WW1. Muslims seem to have had more success with guerilla warfare but when it comes to attacking they fall short
I think the Arab world can be changed overnight by a radical shift in battlefield tactics. The terrorist and professional army world alike can benefit from mass numbers, close tight knit formations.
The failure of the 1970's Iran Iraq war human wave tactics just shows that Muslim culture doesn't work well with modern military doctrine. Sending in wave after wave of platoon to die for Allah does nothing but spill blood.
What you want is a giant line of dudes with big rifles or rocket launchers that destroy anything in their path, heavily armored. You never see anything close to that which is why it's such a stalemate, they are using 100 year old military theories.
what happens when arabs use line infantry

2021-05-29 at 11:38 AM UTCInteresting concept. The jordanian army is quite well maintained but at the mercy of the joos victimization tactics (you can't send them the good weapons, we need them to defend against them). Also using line infantry in a desert is like lining up for your death like redcoats

no, not at all if you just finish reading the hole thing. -
2021-05-29 at 4:20 PM UTCthey say the iran iraq war used "line infantry" but I don't think they really did. Maybe a bit but they were fighting with modern military doctrine in mind, they were NOT using line infantry tactics. Human wave is not the same thing at all, it's similar but not the same.

2021-05-29 at 4:36 PM UTCfrom what I've read, their recent failures (ie. post WWII) seem to stem from a general lack of discipline and order which is probably cultural.
Saudi Arabia for example has failed miserably to crush Yemen, despite having every advantage - one major reason for it is that their officers are largely inept due to nepotism and not taking their roles seriously. they're treated like government jobs are in the west. they also rely heavily on foreign (usually cheap African) mercenaries because it's cheaper than training their own frontline troops, and as a result end up using them as a blunt instrument with no regard to casualties.
another good example was Syria last time they were fighting israel - they had the latest Soviet anti-aircraft platforms (which had been battle-proven in Vietnam) but still got crushed by the J'ewForce. the reason the AA complexes were so ineffective was because the Syrian Army was extremely lazy and didn't follow instructions at all.
- they didn't move mobile complexes so that israel was able to map them and strike them with standoff missiles even weeks later.
- they didn't co-ordinate SAMs and AA guns (you're supposed to use SAM radar locks to force enemy aircraft to fly low into the guns' field of fire)
- they restricted their own range by placing the missile batteries in valleys rather than on hills because it was easier to dig latrines in the lowlands -
2021-05-29 at 4:46 PM UTCThey did pretty well with swords but when it comes to modern military hardware they suck.

My grandad was at the battle of the Somme, when I was a nipper he gave me a rifle shell which he said was from it, naturally I lost it over the years. He said he went over the top but an artillery shell close by buried him in mud and he couldn't move/get out. He later managed to crawled out and back into the trenches...the fucker probably hid more likely. -
