Why does no materials ABSORB water anymore???

When I was a kid if you spilled a water and put a towel or paper towel on it it would get wet, soaking fucking wet. You could spin the towel into a rope and use the weight of the water to hit people like a whip

I have a bunch of towels and paper towels and I am PUSHING the water. I GENTLY PLACE a paper towel on a spill of water and the FUCKING SPILL OF WATER STARTS TO MOVE LIKE A BUG RUNNING ACROSS THE FLOOR

IT SPREADS WATER TENTACLES IN EVERY DIRECTION thinning out the spill flattening the pile of water so I pressed down on the STILL FUCKING BONE DRY paper towel and it just pushes the water MORE and THEN it STARTS to absorb the water, I had to throw a towel on top of the paper towel and step on it and it's still wet

what the fuck happened why does nothing absorb water

What the fuck are you talking about, I clean with paper towels all the time just fine. They're not meant to clean up a lake of water.

I predict the big paper towel industry is oiling the paper towels these days. I remember back when you used to be able to buy sea sponges, I predict that in the future they will inflate the price of real sea sponges and they will be a sign of affluence

Okay you are probably just an agent for big towel and big paper EVERYTHING IS FINE FOLX NOTHING TO SEE HERE

It wasn't a lake it was a normal amount like a cup. There is clearly some engineering making it so the towels absorb less, making you buy more.

Pretty funny how the cornerstone of their advertising for years was 1000X MORE ABSORBANT THAN THE OTHER BRAND. Do you ever see those commercials anymore? hmm I wonder why? Did they just "move on" and get too big for TV ads?

Paper Towels used to COME TO THE RESCUE and save the day save the spill, now they are just a fucking joke.

A lot of hip people are moving back to regular dish towels it seems. And who can blame them when the papper towels are oiled and cost 5 dollars a roll yet they have less absorbance than grandpa's paper towel

That's to say nothing of the environental benefits of not mining all that extra oil just to soak it up on paper and the landfill waist

It's the towels too man I got a bunch of brand new towels and they are fucked you can pour a cup of water on it and lift up the towel and the water will pool on the fabric and fall right on the floor if you lift it up with about 10% being absorbed into the towel

These newer towels when they are "full of water" and completely saturated still feel dry to me. It's like they are trying to make the fabric "drip proof" so it can't absorb enough water to get wet enough to drip.

You're blaming the wrong thing...it's not the absorbant materials, the problem is the water

THE WATER IS FULL OF NANOBOTS, YOU TRY TO SOAK IT UP THE NANOBOTS RUN THE OTHER WAY

    That's just silly.

It's probably just some egg heads in an RnD department fucking with the fabrics.

They are stepping on the paper towel and cutting it with sawdust so you are only getting half the actual fabric and the rest is puffed up air filled with blended wood fibers which is why is doesn't absorb for shit anymore

I looked it up it says "Many New towels come coated in fabric softener, which reduces the absorbency."
