    More lies, more libel! Sad!

The truth will win in the end!

I read this whole article and it's a fucking waste of space to type out. It was all opinion and smarminess because apparently Donald Trump decided on his own to stage his stupid photo OP after the protesters were safely gassed and dispensed to make way for a new fence.

HAHAHA LIBTARD EVERYTHING STILL HAPPENED BUT ONE PART OF THE TIMELINE WAS INCIDENTAL AND NOT COERCED. CHECKM8 IN 18 DIMENSIONS SNOWFLAKES!!!!

I dont doubt the veracity of any of it, the intro made me think there was going to be something important or clever but even the fact that they did an investigation into it is retarded and the RESULT IS ENTIRELY THE SAME

If these are the "small victories" the right needs to feel emboldened right now I feel they have a long way to go before anyone gives a fuck

Democrats Demand Investigation of Trump-Era Seizure of Lawmakers' Data
    Nicholas Fandos

Top Senate Democrats on Friday demanded that former Attorney General William P. Barr and other Justice Department officials testify before the Judiciary Committee about their extraordinary decision to secretly seize data from the accounts of House Democrats and their aides as they hunted for leaks of classified information.

Eric Swalwell of California was one of at least two Democrats on the Intelligence Committee whose records were seized.

Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the majority leader, and Senator Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, the chairman of the judiciary panel, said they were willing to subpoena for testimony Mr. Barr, former Attorney General Jeff Session and others if necessary. They also announced they would “vigorously investigate” the department’s actions and called on Republicans to join them in the inquiry.

“This issue should not be partisan; under the Constitution, Congress is a coequal branch of government and must be protected from an overreaching executive, and we expect that our Republican colleagues will join us in getting to the bottom of this serious matter,” Mr. Schumer and Mr. Durbin said in a statement.

Their demands came as Democrats in both chambers decried the seizures and aggressive investigative tactics, first reported by The New York Times on Thursday, as a gross abuse of power to target another branch of government. They said the pursuit of information on some of President Donald J. Trump’s most visible political adversaries in Congress smacked of dangerous politicization.

So far, no prominent Republicans have joined Democrats in calling for investigations, which could make fact-finding more difficult. The attempt by Mr. Schumer and Mr. Durbin to put pressure on them to stand up for Congress’s prerogatives reflected the fact that to issue subpoenas or compel testimony in an evenly divided Senate, Democrats would need at least some Republican support.

The Times reported that as it hunted for the source of leaks about Trump associates and Russia, the Justice Department had used grand jury subpoenas to compel Apple and one other service provider to hand over data tied to at least a dozen people associated with the House Intelligence Committee beginning in 2017 and 2018. The department then secured a gag order to keep it secret.

Though leak investigations are routine, current and former officials at the Justice Department and in Congress said seizing data on lawmakers is nearly unheard-of outside of corruption investigations. The Times also reported that after an initial round of scrutiny did not turn up evidence tying the intelligence committee to the leaks, Mr. Barr objected to closing out the inquiry and helped revive it.

Investigators gained access to the records of Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the committee and now its chairman; Representative Eric Swalwell of California; committee staff; and family members, including one who was a minor.

“I hope every prosecutor who was involved in this is thrown out of the department,” Mr. Swalwell said in an interview on Friday. “It crosses the line of what we do in this country.”

“We have to figure out what and how it happened to determine the extent to which D.O.J. misused its powers under Trump for political purposes,” he continued. “I think it was absolutely a frontal assault on the independence of a coequal branch of government.”

Senator Ron Wyden, Democrat of Oregon and a member of the Intelligence Committee who has been a leading critic of government surveillance, said he planned to introduce legislation trying to crack down on the use of gag orders like the one used on Apple and news organizations, which were also scrutinized in the leak investigation.

“Revelations about the Trump Justice Department’s targeting of journalists and political rivals proves again how surveillance powers can be abused and the need to put strict limits on gag orders that prevent the targets of this spying from learning about it for years,” Mr. Wyden said in a statement.

Oregon Legislature Expels GOP Rep. Mike Nearman After Video Shows Him Instructing People on How to Breach State Capitol Building
    Marisa Sarnoff

The Oregon state legislature voted 59-1 Thursday to expel Republican Rep. Mike Nearman from the House, after video revealed that he was instructing people how to breach the state’s capitol building, which had been closed to the public due to coronavirus concerns, in December.

“The Oregon House of Representatives has taken the unprecedented step of expelling one of its members,” House Speaker Tina Kotek said in a statement from Oregon House Democrats on Thursday. “Elected leaders must be held to the highest possible standard. The facts are clear that Mr. Nearman unapologetically coordinated and planned a breach of the Oregon State Capitol.”

“His actions were blatant and deliberate, and he has shown no remorse for jeopardizing the safety of every person in the Capitol that day,” Kotek added.

In video released on June 4, Nearman appears to tell people that there is a way to get inside the Capitol building. He first makes a reference to “Operation Hall Pass,” and then said, apparently tongue-in-cheek, “I don’t know anything about it, and if you accuse me of knowing anything about it, I will deny it.”

Nearman then provided clear, step-by-step instructions on how to get into the building.

“There might be some person’s number which might be [sound redacted], but that is just random numbers,” Nearman said, apparently providing his own phone number. “And if you say ‘I’m at the West entrance’ during the session and text to that number there, that somebody might exit that door while you’re standing there,’” OPB reported.

The video, according to OPB, was streamed live on Dec. 16, and Nearman can be seen and heard repeating the phone number multiple times

Days later, on Dec. 21, Nearman is seen on video holding the door to the Capitol building open as he exited, allowing people who turned out to be right-wing protestors to enter. Several of them rushed inside the building, and were soon confronted by law enforcement who, after a struggle, were able to push the protestors out of the building. Nearman then walked around the building and re-entered minutes later from a different entrance.

The Dec. 21 video was released on Jan. 8, just days after a violent right-wing mob of Donald Trump supporters breached the U.S. Capitol building.

Nearman was charged in April with two misdemeanors: official misconduct and criminal trespass.

Nearman is the first person ever to be expelled from the Oregon Legislature. Nearman himself himself was the only person to vote against his expulsion.

Earlier on Thursday, a six-person bipartisan committee had voted unanimously in support of a resolution supporting Nearman’s expulsion.

The groundswell of support for Nearman to be expelled gained momentum on Monday, when all Republican state representatives – except Nearman – signed a letter asking him to resign.

“Today we strongly recommend that you resign from the Oregon State House of Representatives,” the letter said, according to an OPB report. “Given the newest evidence that has come to light regarding the events of December 21, 2020, it is our belief as friends and colleagues that it is in the best interests of your caucus, your family, yourself, and the state of Oregon for you to step down from office.

“All House Republicans have called on Representative Nearman to resign,” House Minority Leader Christine Drazan (R) said in a statement on Monday, OPB reported. “We have to hold ourselves to a higher standard in elected life and his actions do not meet that standard.”

Trump’s Name Could Finally Be Stripped From A NY State Park
    Zoë Richards

The New York state Senate approved a bill Thursday that could trigger the renaming of a Hudson Valley state park which for years has carried the name of former President Donald Trump.

“New York’s Senate just gave Donald Trump an early birthday present: we’re stripping his name from a state park,” state Sen. Brad Hoylman, a sponsor of the bill said. “Trump has dishonored the state and should not be honored with a state park named for him.”

The New York Daily News reported that the measure directs the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, to launch a legal review into renaming the largely unused “Donald J. Trump State Park,” which straddles the border of Westchester and Putnam Counties along a state parkway.

The review could pave the way for a name change for the park and the installation of new signs.

Lawmakers have sought for years to rename the 435-acre site which Trump donated to the state in 2006 after hitting roadblocks in plans to convert the land into the 18-hole championship golf course and country club he envisioned after purchasing it for $2 million in the early 1990s.

If Trump’s name is eventually blotted from the park, it would appear to be an answer to numerous longstanding public calls for its renaming, including a petition in 2015 that gathered 2,800 signatures on change.org called “Rename Donald J. Trump State Park to… anything else.”
  17. Q. Why weren't the Capitol Police officers who waved the protesters into the building and removed barricades arrested?

    A. Because they're not Republicans.
