they're completely different chemicals, percocet is oxycodone.
the only way it could happen is if you bought pills that weren't made by an actual pharmaceutical company; sounds like someone's pressing fent into pills and selling them as something they aren't -

Shave bits at a time with your finger nail every few minutes. A doctor told me to take 1/4th of a pill he prescribed and said wait 15 minutes and (clean your hands and sterile them with hand san) and scratch the pill or use a butter knife and shave powder and keep putting it under your tongue. I hated taking pills when i was younger. Too strong most of the time. Best not to tske street drugs. You have 0 clue whats in it. -

Maybe make them legal so fent wont be used. War on drugs is a joke. Waste of money. Let the pharmacist decide if they will hand off a behind the counter like they do with psudofed

if he wants to avoid it he'd have to only buy them if they're in blisters or a sealed bottle, or at the very least get familiar with what genuine pills look like.

My moms ex bf "Redfred" would use a loader to make his own pills of nodoze and who knows what as a pill preser. Turn it upside down fill it with his chopped pill mix powders and then i watched him cut a circle out of paper the diamter of the cast, and feed a threaded string through the center andvflip it, pressed it and used the string like a cotex to pull it out formed.
