There's something about post Soviet Russia that i find interesting. Russians are the nicest people btw, and the Russian language is cool too. Not really obsessed with Mexico but the cartels are interesting to me.
Germany i like because it's culturally similar to my country, plus i am a fan of the whole WWII thing, and Hitler more generally. Whenever i say i am a Nazi Scholar i am only half kidding, i've read a bunch of source material, including historical literature and research on how Nazi Germany came about and how it operated. -

To be fair the original plan was for the Russian Slavic peoples to be exiled to Siberia. The goal was to extend Germany from Germany proper all the way into the East and to have the new frontier reach from Archangel in the North to Volgograd in the South. Hitler's Kommissar Order, did technically make all Soviet citizens enemy combatants but was mostly aimed at eliminating Partisans, which were a huge pain in the ass for Germany during Barbarossa.
Furthermore, the USSR never signed the Geneva conventions not ratified any of the accords so technically international law as it applies to the targeting of civilians does not constitute war crimes, if you are not a signatory, you also do not get the protections the Geneva conventions affords. -
