9 Things You Can Get for Free If You Have the COVID-19 Vaccine
Lois Alter Mark
Getting your COVID vaccine gets you protection, peace of mind, and—thanks to a growing number of companies—rewards including free donuts, beer, and even cash. Give it a shot!
Getting the COVID vaccine protects you from the virus and makes it safe for you to hug your (vaccinated) loved ones but it now has some unexpected benefits, as well. Companies around the country will reward you for getting vaccinated by giving you free gifts, from, literally, dollars to doughnuts.
We’ve compiled a list of some of the freebies you can get just by showing your vaccine card. While it’s great to post photos of your perks on social media to encourage others to get their shot, stick to selfies of you with your treats. There are safety reasons why you shouldn’t share photos of your COVID-19 vaccine card.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
Not only will Krispy Kreme give you a free doughnut if you’ve been vaccinated but they’ll give you one every single day for the rest of the year! Just show your vaccine card in the shop or drive-through to receive one of their Original Glazed doughnuts. Then come back again to receive another one tomorrow—and the next day and the next. Sweet!
Budweiser
Raise a glass to Budweiser, who’s giving you the first round on the house once you’ve been vaccinated (if you’re 21 or older, of course). Visit ABeerOnBud.com, upload proof of vaccination, which can be a photo of your “I Got Vaccinated” sticker, a selfie taken at your vaccination location, or a photo of the bandage on your arm. (There’s no need to show your actual vaccine card.) You’ll receive a $5.00 virtual debit card which can be redeemed for a single Bud. Unfortunately, residents of three states are not eligible for this promotion but don’t worry, Alabama, California, and Texas, because there’s another beer giveaway for you.
Samuel Adams
Samuel Adams will buy a beer for residents of any state, once you’ve been vaccinated and as long as you’re 21 or older. You don’t even have to show your vaccine card. Just share a photo of your vaccine sticker or bandage on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #ShotforSam. Be sure to also tag @samueladamsbeer. You will then receive a DM from Sam with instructions on how to receive your $7.00 prize for a beer at your favorite bar through Cash App. Cheers!
So Good So You Juice Shot
One good shot deserves another and, after you’ve received your COVID shot, So Good So You will send you a voucher for a free probiotic juice shot in the flavor of your choice, which can be redeemed at more than 5,000 stores nationwide. Just head to FreeJuiceShot.com, answer two questions—your address and whether or not you’ve gotten the vaccine —and they’ll mail your voucher so you can continue your health and wellness journey.
Cincinnati Reds Baseball Tickets
The first Major League Baseball team to offer discounts to vaccinated fans, the Cincinnati Reds are offering View Level tickets for $10.00 when you show your vaccine card at the Great American Ball Park ticket windows. Tickets are good for Monday through Thursday games in April and May, and a maximum of six tickets can be purchased with each vaccine card.
Drop Shopping Rewards
Popular shopping rewards platform, Drop, will reward you with up to $50 in points to use at major retailers including Amazon, Starbucks, and Sephora. Download the app and post a selfie on Instagram of you getting your vaccine, with the hashtag #DropCOVID and tag @JoinDrop. Then feel free to shop till you drop.
Staples, Office Depot, and OfficeMax Vaccine Card Lamination
If you’re worried about your paper vaccine card getting damaged, Staples, Office Depot, and OfficeMax will laminate it for free for you. Just bring it to the store after you’ve completed your vaccines (two doses of Pfizer or Moderna or one dose of Johnson & Johnson). For Office Depot and OfficeMax, you have to print out this coupon and present it at the store. They’ll also make a two-sided copy of your card for you so you have a backup in case you lose it.
Cash
To encourage everyone to get vaccinated, some companies are rewarding employees with cash. Kroger is giving fully-vaccinated employees a $100 cash bonus, Publix is offering a $125 gift card, and Petco is giving employees a $75 payment and making a $25 contribution to the Petco Partner Assistance Fund. In addition, many companies are offering employees paid time off to get their vaccines, so you may want to check with your own employer to see what they’re doing.
Uber and Lyft
Ready to get your vaccine and all its benefits but need a ride? Both Uber and Lyft are offering free or discounted rides to and from your vaccine appointment to ensure that lack of transportation isn’t a barrier to getting your shot. If a ride is the only thing holding you back, visit their sites now so you can get going.
