We've only bored ~12km into the Earth

    Imagine the potential for endless geothermal energy and the resources we could dredge up if we'd actually work on deep drilling rather than scooping up all the low-hanging fruit

    That's a great idea.
    I've been saying that since JR high school,the problem is that no one wants free clean energy.
    We all have to kept slaves either by shit pay or the petrodollar.
    Wars used to keep the population in check but now I think they are just going to kill as many people as possible with this covid bullshit.

    So what's the deal? Why havent we done it?

    This is a subject I know nothing about but I'd imagine there could be lots of greedy profits made by discovering and harvesting an entire new source of energy so why the fuck isnt Elon musk or whoever the else just doing it?
