The Marquis de Sade was an interesting fellow. The libertine movement/libertinism are no ordinary love. I wish I was capable of being a libertine, but alas, I am constrained by a moral compass.

120 days of sodom was funny for a while but it felt like he ran out of ideas halfway through and it just got real goofy

Le Marquis got a bad rap. He was so much more than a sadist, and yet every petty malevolent is made to bear his name. I doubt he'd appreciate being associated in any fashion with most of them. The man didn't just hurt people because he enjoyed it. The man enjoyed hurting people... so he hurt them. It may seem like a small or even meaningless distinction, but it's not, damn it. He made a conscious choice to engage in all manners of debauchery. It was a choice. A lifestyle.

Some people like it too. It's not a black and White thing.
