    Gauze was different back then. It was basically a fine light cloth and not this synthetic puff we use now. It was a lot thicker because they were more focused on protection than allowing oxygen. More like dressing wrap than modern gauze.

    I have two cloth masks that accept an inner f i l t e r in their pouch that I get from cutting A/C air f i l t e r material from a roll that I have. I wash them perioically and, after air drying, put them in my phone sanitizer device before reusing.
