   Home phlebotomy is fascinating. Blood letting has a long history of therapeutic use, which I do not agree with writing off as being mere misguided superstition, and people like P.D. Mangan have advocated "dumping iron" to extend lifespan.
   
   However dumping large amounts of blood quickly and efficiently is difficult. There is a lot of blood in a human body. People with a medical excess of iron (hemochromatosis) usually just donate blood to get rid of it quickly.
