The thing is it would of been unfair for people in LA, SF, NYC and any other major city where rent is through the fucking roof. if the rest of the country made minimum wage where rent is half it would have eventually driven prices up to pay for the new wages.
What should be done is this. a pennny or two on each item everywhere. then use that money per month to split equally with all of the below management employees to pay. some months if sales are down, so is your bonus check. if sales are through the roof so is your bonus check.
this is a simple way of raising pay and having the person learn to manage their money and not assume that theyŕe going to get a great bonus every month.
in the midwest it should be 1 cents per item while in NYC or SF, Seattle etc it should be 2 cents per item. this isnt much for the consumer.
