This sounds like an American problem. In Canada we have reconciled these issues long ago and our societies have fully integrated into each other. As a child in school we are taught from a young age that we yoinked this land and through hundreds of years of mutual history learned to live together.
Obviously colonial influences permeated throughout white society in those times and we did try to force them to be christian and western educated but the native people understand that it is just our culture to convert and educate people. It's a lot better than genocide.
In my country native people get a monthly stipend simply for being native. My half native friends that look white all collect government assistance plus their stipend for being 10% native (we call it metis) and they live quite comfortably. Native people can even get a government pass that lets them get into any amusement park for free since it is built on their land.
They get huge breaks from the government and their society is allowed to live separate from ours with different rules like native casinos.

No it's not fucking ironic. They were native Americans. Americans are by definition white English speakers who brought civilization to the continent. Indians could not be considered native Americans because.... they're not Americans.
