Empiricism stops at firsthand experience, labs are just a really easy way to communicate that.
Originally posted by Solomon Thunder …it's irrelevant what the definition of justified or true is, because the subject was you nitpicking the word "belief" as if it is always equivalent to religious faith, which it isn't.
You are trying to equate not having personally surveyed a subject but believing it's experts as being equivalent to religious faith.
You're the one who tried to define "knowledge", and you did so in an extremely ambiguous fashion. You can't level a definition as an argument (the archetypal semantic argument, for the record) and then balk at the idea of being asked to explain your definition. Especially not when that definition is intended to conflate knowledge and belief. Beliefs are not knowledge. The only people who claim otherwise are trying to convert you to their religion. -

Originally posted by Kev annually, 80000 americans died from the flu the year before covid19, except back then they called it the flu, not "covid18"
"The year before covid19"

61,000 deaths.
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/2018-2019.html
34,000 deaths.
Meanwhile in a similar amount of time, COVID-19 has killed 510,000 people.
Ah but of course THOSE numbers are "pumped up" but the flu numbers aren't, amirite? -

you are looking at the outdated estimate, the september 2018 estimate was at 80000.
https://www.statnews.com/2018/09/26/cdc-us-flu-deaths-winter/
they had to set up tents in parking lots to treat people. compare that with this hoax where so many hospitals turned out to be empty.
yes, the numbers for the coronahoax are falsified, given that they record everything as a covid death including motorcycle crashes. https://www.rt.com/usa/495200-coronavirus-motocycle-crash-mistake-florida/
also notice that the numbers they give for covid tend to be precise while the flu deaths tend to be estimates. that is because they arent reporting them the same way. for the flu, they estimate the total infected, for covid they only count those who test positive while ignoring the vast majority who display no symptoms and then of course the death rate is 50 times larger than it should be.

LMAO 'updated statistic'
If you actually read my source you'd see its up to date.
I linked to the CDC to provide CDC info.
You linked to a 3rd party to provide CDC 'info.'
How the fuck do you think your source is more legit than the CDC? What planet are you from? You want CDC stats? Check with the CDC. -
2021-02-27 at 5:46 PM UTCWho is implying half million dead useless Americans isn't a good start? The problem is the drain on the health care system and the economy. Not being on the same page is making things more difficult. Let the boomers croak and provide health care based on merit. It's the American way

The common flu, heart disease, and cancer were all cured in 2020, according to the numbers. Gee, where did all those numbers go, I wonder. -

You dodged the question again because evading the point and obscurantist sophistry is all you have. You have nothing else in the tank intellectually. Do you understand electronic engineering or electrical engineering? You're the one who tried to define "knowledge", and you did so in an extremely ambiguous fashion. You can't level a definition as an argument (the archetypal semantic argument, for the record) and then balk at the idea of being asked to explain your definition. Justified true belief is the common working definition of knowledge in academic philosophy.
Whether or not you understand what "justified" or "true" means in this context isn't relevant to the point, which you repeatedly can only dodge and never remotely address, which is that you cannot have knowledge without a belief. Knowledge of some fact is just a belief that you know is true for justifiable reasons.
It literally doesn't matter what mental gymnastics you want to employ about the meaning of justifiability or truth. We don't need to get into epistemic nihilism to point out that your point was dogshit. -
