Its not the face (in this case) but rather the name. the name was associated prior to the commercial use of it as a servent of the masters house. Like an "Uncle Tom"
Uncle Ben makes 0 sense to remove. because it's a figurehead without a racist connotation (at least that I'm aware of)
but I agree partially that it's just stupid to remove. I love Aunt Jemima because it's heck-of-delish
but we also used to use her name in a funny way "Aint Yo Momma" but that isn't a mockery on blacks. It's just "Don't ask dumb questions because I Aint Yo Momma" -
