i first read about it on encyclopedia dramatica. sometimes I'll just hit the random button and read what pops up, there are some neat articles covering websites of the early internet, forum flame wars and raids, and some other neat early internet history. i was just crawling random pages one day when i came upon the totse article back in 2013 and after i decided to stop browsing 4chan in 2020 I sought out totse replacements to participate in instead since I didn't feel like becoming a serious reddit user and from what i read in the encyclopedia dramatica article it seemed totse would be relevant to my interests in drugs, weaponry, the 2000s, conspiracy theory Discussion, and purely hypothetical discussions on breaking the law. -

I guess I should have known from the crude and informal style of ED that I couldn't really trust 100% of what I read there. I guess I dug what I could infer about the culture of the place, the irresponsible shenanigans, the counterculture of the old internet, the edgy humor appeals to me but I could be critically misunderstanding the way things really were then. -

it was awesome, we (not just totse but the counterculture in general) won the fucking culture war. i dont know how old you are but back then everything we youngins loved was under constant attack and threat of being banned. the dominant culture said videogames turned us into violent school shooters, comic books made us antisocial and retarded, porn makes us rapists and that everyone on the net was a child predator. constant spectacles were created by the media about shit like this.
our bases (somethingawful, newgrounds, ebaumsworld and so on) kept being invaded and harassed by stupid normie fucks that kept telling us what scum we were for having a sense of humor and how we had to accept jesus or burn in hell.
realizing that peaceful coexistence with these meddling fucks was impossible, we went on the offensive and started what we call raids. we spammed their forums with porn, took their bases offline and spread the goatse gospel everywhere, triggering enough of these snowflakes to the corners of the fringe.
our culture then became the mainstream culture. we fucking won. we even got a troll elected as president.
but one thing pisses me off, the SJWs have emerged as the counterculture now and their methods of rebellion involves sucking the dick of the establishment, being good little submissive whiny soycucks that beg for more authoritarian rules and defend the privileged in the name of justice. sickening.
the faggy hall monitors with mantitties are the new cool kids in town apparently.
