Perhaps justifiably, perhaps as part of a conspiracy on the part of the CIA to delegitimize people who question the mainstream narrative of events. In general though - as a concept - nothing is wrong with conspiracy theories. Sometimes people conspire, and theorizing about such incidents is not inherently silly. That said, conspiracy theories - in specific - often are silly. It's only natural for people to start dismissing similar things offhand after a while of being exposed to credulous fools spouting all kinds of easily disprovable nonsense.
