Edit: Apparently his cousin posted on reddit a few hours ago. He says it was an embolism. He had put on a few pounds I guess so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a heart thing.

He was a talented dude. Very collaborative. He gave a lot of small name rappers a boost by collaborating with them. This is a big loss for the rap community.
MF DOOM and Madlib used shrooms together and spent years crate digging for the samples to create the sound of this album. When they met, Dumile was broke and couldn't pay Madlib to produce, but they hit it off and Madlib agreed to produce with him and get paid for it later on. They became good friends and did another album together.
RIP. Doom was the GOAT nigga... Whenever I think about the cliche of "rap as high modern poetry", I can honestly say that at least for Doom, it was real.

He was the greatest rapper in the game, no doubt about it. He'd been through a lot of shit before his career really took off. Lived homeless in NYC, saw his brother get killed. Talented too. After his brother died their rap group broke apart. He went underground, debuted as a solo artist at open mics, this is when he adopted the mask. So much raw talent.
He was, in no uncertain terms, a legend.
This is fucked up. He was too young to die. He deserved a long, happy life. His son died a few years back. 4chan said it might have been suicide, due to the grief of losing his boy. The kid was only 14. I really hope he didn't kill himself. That would be so awful.
As an aside, the mods pinned his death thread on /mu/. They made the thread play his music as well. Anon is in tears over this. There are hundreds of posts in the thread already, people are mourning.
