thats funny and from 6.5 years ago but seriously the most toxic and victimy thing in the world is "omg our guv sends $ 2 other places while we r poor here" thats literally welfare mentality. Why would you expect your government to aid its citizens above all else? Also foreign influence is worth way more than thst extra bit in your wallet you can buy a bigger TV with Jimbo.

that's literally your citizens' money being taken via tax and sent overseas.
funding domestic programs should absolutely come first, and funding foreign states for any reason should be highly scrutinised.
Funding domestic programs does come first in literally every single country. Funding that goes to other countries builds influence and is literally why america, Britain, france, belgium, Russia basically any country with any power has power.
The implication that people are poor in one country because their state actors send money to other countries is stupid and victimy. You arent broke and homeless because your country sent money to other countries because thats not how capitalism works. You are broke because you suck at life and like to whine about how things are "unfair." Literally using the same argument as people you hate.
These people are literally advocating for central planning in an economy

The US does far FAR more to benefit Israel than monetarily. By recognizing them as a state and forcing other countries to the bargaining table with them they do a far bigger service to Israel than any amount of money can do

They gave israel 500m which is disgusting but not surprising. Im saying states spending money to exert influence in other places or for altruistic reasons is expected but sending shekels to Zion is reprehensible and inexcusable

IDK mang, the US has some important (although I guess that’s a matter of opinion) programs that are pretty underfunded. NASA and SSI come to mind. Probably “healthcare” too (meaning like health infrastructure, public hospitals, programs for the disabled and un/underemployed, not the subsidized/regulated insurance thing that “healthcare” has come to mean).
I mean I get your point, US foreign aid is kind of a boogie man and assuming you don’t include military “aid” it’s not a very big expense compared the other money holes we shovel tax dollars into. But it’s not like the US is a promise land where our plentiful domestic programs are flowing over with money.

It's like you can't pay your rent, you have no food in the fridge, your clothes are in tatters, your credit card is empty, but you still give away your whole paycheck to the rich guy next door. That's the "logic" behind foreign aid.

at that point i usually engage in petty thievery and self-debasement.

yeah obviously the US has a lotta programs that need more money but its not like the pakistani gender studies money was earmarked for orphanage health care were it not for those pesky AMERICA LAST DEMONCRATS. Fiscal Transparency is pretty important, it's just prioritizing certain programs should take precedence, which politicians say they do, allocate money to them then say that's enough for now so they can go to other things. It's not an either/or scenario and some things probably seem much more important than others, but the reason they are in need of help isnt because of any country other than Israel of course
