most of the features they changed and introduced in Vista were a very good idea (things like user privilege separation and driver signing/verification), just rushed in terms of hardware compatibility and people considering themselves 'power users' or some shit and not wanting to learn anything new.
during and after 7 their design paradigm took a turn though, and they've been trying to cut users out of the actual operation of the OS as much as possible to the point where they no longer even tell you what's in the updates it periodically d0wnloads

Who cares about any of that stupid shit. WinCo had the best design, the best feel and UI, the best startup sound etc
