It was 2010 for me. Deadly Premonition, Vanquish, Mario Galaxy 2, Yakuza 4, Demon's Souls (euro release) God of War 3 and Metro 2033.
1998 has more critically acclaimed games (Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid, Half Life etc) but I didn't play most of those games during that year and had no idea how good it was at the time.
2010 was crazy for me, four of those games are in my top five of all time (DP, Vanquish, SMG2, Demon's Souls) and the odd one out was released a few months before in 2009 anyway (Bayonetta).
