I was already to commit to my New Years Resolution and press on. but Covid Happened.

What do I even commit to this coming few weeks ahead on the next NYE?

it will probably be around a few more years if they learn the vaccine people got died from Covid19 months later. back to the covid drawing board.

at this point its "at your own risk" of going out. but someone will always say "but you'll kill someone else"

new years resolutions are fake and gay. if you want to make a change to your life or situation, you need to be serious enough about it for it not to hinge on a gimmick.

why do you drive for uber? it doesn't make sense to expect stability from a company that was explicitly designed to destroy the stability of the industry. do you have any other skills you could leverage? even if it's just construction or something. have you considered moving out of state?

Its a Joke of a job and all, but seriously people from the medical field to lawyers have done it for part time, not because they needed money but because it allows them to interact and learn from riders when they get into a serious conversation that they end up exchanged business cards or something.

for me, it was making decent money at first and just driving people around while I listen to my music softly and they listen to theirs (99 percent of the time with earbuds) I'm making more than any job with a lack of a 4 year degree or a PhD would make .. before expenses I would average 35. after maybe 27. just driving. I think this is the quickest way to save money without busting my ass.

some of these guys are making 60 or more an hour. and during holiday, though I dont get tips as much as others. if I am charming as I can be I might make 5-10 more an hour on average.

this is what confuses me, here you say you're making good money off it, but in other threads you talk about not getting any rides and having to live out of your car. which is it?

    during 2 periods.

one when they were trying to figure out if they were going to be forced to move out of california (this has been going on for close to three years or 4. now they dont have to and have set minimums for the first time)

and the other is covid. so you're saying go out and get a Job. To do what? bust my ass moving furniture? I might as well work in a Amazon warehouse or drive for them. and I might. but I feel when things get back to norm I will be doing Uber more efficiently.

and I had other issues as well. separation, gigi on my ass about shit I never had before because we're being together too much. I need to leave and get some me time sitting in my car on MiFi watching movies on my laptop or phone. come back she's in a much better mood.

What do you do for a living?

that's what I mean, you can't expect it to be stable work - if that's what you need you should look somewhere else. Uber literally got popular because it undercut the taxi industry; where the taxi drivers had stable 'careers' Uber chopped up their workload and sold it off to freelancers who were able to undercut because they have no long-term expectations.

I'm just trying to be realistic - I'm saying you should consider other options. I don't know what kind of debts or ongoing costs you have or what would be best for you, only that what you're doing now does not sound like it's working. Maybe if you learn a programming language or tech writing skill or something you can freelance when Uber's quiet.

I don't know what to tell you about your personal life.

I'm working as a general IT tech at the moment, worked in both dev and sys/network admin roles in the past
