U.S. R epublicans hint at limited time for T rump to make his post-election case
By Richard Cowan 50 mins ago
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Top R epublicans in the U.S. Congress for now are supporting President Donald T rump's attempt to challenge President-elect Joe B iden's victory, but some senior aides said T rump must soon produce significant evidence or exit the stage.
A handful of R epublican senators have said they recognize B iden as last week's winner. Many more have not but are suggesting limits to their patience in giving T rump the benefit of the doubt.
Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, a state that T rump won handily last week, said in a statement that B iden is leading in enough states to win election "and President Donald T rump's campaign must produce evidence to support allegations of election fraud."
Behind the scenes, some were more explicit.
"I think the goal here is to give the president and his campaign team some space to demonstrate there is real evidence to support any claims of voter fraud. If there is, then they will be litigated quickly. If not, we’ll all move on," said one senior Senate Republican aide. -

2020-11-10 at 11:29 PM UTCYeah I read it and I don't see how he is supposed to magically speed up a legal investigation. You can't just set up a court case overnight, it takes time. They want evidence but the legal team has no obligation to give anyone evidence if they are filing a court case.
If they were to present evidence before the court case they could ruin their own case and give the other side information that increases their chance of winning.
I learned this from TV.. I'm not even American why am I the only one talking about this... -

I mean I think he is probably fucked no matter if there is fraud or not.
The possibility could exist that its a Bush Gore type deal but most likely not, I know covid made the election results take longer to count but thats even more of a reason why there are so many complaints. The longer it takes the more that can go wrong. -

this is what demócracy is all about, its about the faith of one group of people in their own lies over the lies of the other group of people.
truths were never a feature of democracy, of any kind. -
