people spend more time dicking around with ides, deployment scripts and docker faggotry than actually coding nowadays

I don’t use it but if you want your intelisense wankery back you can use coc.nvim.

for the most part I just use geany to write scripts and patches; don't do a whole lot of coding outside of automation shit anymore.

I worked for a design company that did Magento sites a while back (and essentially got fired for not taking it seriously) and it took me much longer to work out their fucking toolchain than it did to actually learn how to patch and interface the magento core

What you currently using emacs? Code? Atom? Jb?

Edit misread, thought you said you don't use vim, just realised you don't use coc. Apologies.

Yeah, just vim 7 via macvim. I’ve kicked around the idea of migrating to neovim but haven’t really seen anything I needed from it, plus macvim is really nice and the counterparts in neovim land are pretty mediocre.

Do you really use a mac or are you pretending to be a woman again?

I do, the OS is reasonable and POSIX compliant, the fonts look nice, the hardware is good. I mean not exactly cost effective but it’s kinda chump change given I buy a computer once every couple years and it’s how I make my living.

P.S. the same is true of gvim.
