    involved since last august, we're intimately close & might live together mid-2021. you might say i'm her boyfriend, but actually saying so would be a shitty idea, unless she's on psych hold & she needs me to have extended visitor privileges.

    you're right about a childlike mentality, especially in terms of independence & emotional reasoning, though this isn't the case all the time. i do a good amount of hand-holding & my reward is the excitement in her voice when she walks on her own. this has gotten much better lately. not every man my age appreciates that tradeoff as worthwhile, but it's why i choose to be on standby for emotional support most days. she could have a breakdown anywhere, anytime, and she'd need me available.

    this sounds like a lot, obviously, & this just how i'd minimally introduce the subject in small talk. complications, all the way down, i assure you. to love someone with borderline is to be demanded, on any condition, with no promises one day; to be rejected, cursed & accused on another. this, too, has gotten much better lately. they are capable of progress & change, like you and i, it's just more painful for them. to get into the best part of these peoples' hearts, you need to write a blank check for patience & compassion.
