I think people who say they drink soda/Coke for the caffeine are having a bit of a placebo effect because a Coke only has like 40 mg of caffeine which isn't going to do anything. Even Mountain Dew only has like 70 mg.

40 mg isn’t a lot of caffeine but tolerance sorta just keeps building with caffeine and if you’re taking 200mg tablets then your perception of what a lot of caffeine is will be different from someone who only drinks soda. When I used to take caffeine tablets to wake up and throughout the day I could drink a full pot of coffee and feel pretty much nothing from it.

I have to dump out part of my 100mg capsules if I dont want heart palpitations.

40mg is barely noticible. I usually do my tea double which is probably around 60mg.

    Solstice,
I used to drink Diet Coke around the clock, right up till bed time. At that time the caffeine had very little effect on me. Now that I’ve cut wayyyy back, it seems to have more of an effect.

Drinking soda constantly is so sickly feeling. I knew someone who drank Mtn Dew instead of water. I don't know how people do it. I will at most drink one 12oz glass of juice a day for sugary drinks. Soda maybe a few times a year.

Used to drink it a lot more but this person really made me appreciate water lol

See, I thought they did a study that proves sugar does not cause hyperactivity.

Yeah, I’m glad I cut way back. 2 sodas, then water the rest of the day. After cutting down on the soda, I dropped about 10 lbs unintentionally.

I don't understand how people need caffeine. I think that is just dependence on a drug. When caffeine users talk about how they can't wake up without it... they are just in a state of withdrawl, aren't they?

I wake up early feeling fine every day. I occasionally will drink a caffinated beverage but I've never made a habit out of it, and I also never wake up feeling like I need it to wake up.

Yes. I have developed a profound caffeine addiction throughout the years from my frequent abuse of the drug, making bonus cups, multiple pots of coffee in a day, energy drinks and soda.

I can't keep my eyes open or function until I have some in my system. I try not to abuse it anymore because it's getting really bad. I just drink enough to not feel like shit, like a god damn opiate addict.

this is me posting before I get my morning coffee lol

I love abusing caffeine, it feels amazing. I am a sucker for stimulants.

Or you can make a giant pot, pour in some milk and chug that. Even the pope chugs coffee because he's from South America, can you really blame him?

I like getting it from the store because I just get one cup and its normal strength. I have no self control when I make it myself, caffeine is the shit and one of my favorite drugs ever since I was a young teenager. You can stay up all night and play video games if you chug coffee

The doctors told me I have an anxiety disorder exacerbated by my abuse of caffeine, they are probably right but can you blame me? Jittering feels fucking amazing even though people think i'm on crack, they just don't get it man. If you are too pussy to abuse caffeine why even live.

It all started when I got a coffee from Denny's at 3am and my friend slipped caffeine pills in it, I lost the ability to sleep but played call of duty until 12pm and then I yoinked the bottle of pills from my friend and ate them all in a few days. Thanks to the pandemic I can't get my free coffee from A&W anymore so I have been making my own and GOD DAMN THOSE FUCKERS AT A&W HAVE BEEN GIVING ME WEAK SHIT. There should be a cafe that makes super coffee 12x strong with caffeine pills and a legal amount of codeine to take the edge off. I don't know of any laws against making bonus cups, I guess most people are just pussies and don't want to drink stimulant sludge. Everyone is doing it wrong and coffee culture is gay as fuck.

I don’t like to think I’m addicted to caffeine, but I just might be, in a smaller dose. I do feel like I need it to get going in the morning; but if I didn’t have it, I’d still get moving, maybe just not as quickly😁

    "I don't have an addiction."

"I can stop any time I want to."

    "It's not that much."

    "I just like the feeling."

    "I'm not hurting anyone."

FACE IT TECH. FACE YOUR ADDICTION HEAD ON. Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

Caffeine withdrawal is a thing, but it's usually pretty mild. A headache you can treat with aspirin that goes away after a couple days is the most common symptom. I think most people who "can't wake up without caffeine" are probably just more used to having it in the morning than anything, and are probably just sleep deprived and not used to dealing with that by actually sleeping. I drink a lot of coffee but if I don't have any on a given day I don't really notice the lack of it assuming I slept normally the night before.

So like yeah, it is a drug, you can develop a dependence, but I think it's closer to weed where "addiction" usually boils down to it being something you work into your routine and then you feel off more because your routine is messed up than because of physical withdrawal symptoms.
