But I don't really see how Alexa can control something without any alternate failsafe.
I have numerous smart bulbs (and other smart devices).
There's always the option to use the actual physical switch or even just yank a power cable from a wall socket or something like that.
And I've never even had to resort to that before even once (so far at least). -

I have these little devices, Sonas or something like that that works via wifi and connect to Alexa...I've chopped it inline to all the devices I want Alexa to turn on and off, fans, lamps, raspberry pis etc...their default state is off...so to turn shit on you have to ask alexa as plugging it in or flicking a wall switch doesn't work.
There IS a little button on the device itself but as 9 out of 10 of the fuckers are behind cupboards or behind the couch etc and what with me being a lazy twat (hence installing the fucking things in the first place) I'll sit in the dark till the bitch comes back online.
ETA: These things, paid like $2.50 each or something like that
