five minutes of propane is not enough time to melt any precious metal. melting any precious metal indoors with propane and anything less than a blower-fan will kill everyone inside with carbon monoxide poisoning.
using a 'blowtorch' to melt precious metals will add contaminants to the molten metal
you need the proper mold and crucible...which in the case of precious metals is some sort of ceramic/graphite. theyre not cheap.
if you feel like melting shit, stick to lead. it melts with a cigarette lighter, you can use pretty much any household cooking container that isnt glass or plastic (silicone actually works), and when you splatter it on yourself it only causes 5th-degree burns instead of precious metals causing 10th degree burns. -
