The clip went viral on Twitter over the weekend, amassing over 1.6 million views.
“I can’t make up my mind whether this is crazy or desperately sad,” commented the user who posted the video. “This is a Prom dance in the age of the global COVID scam! Society has entered self-destruction mode.”
Footage shows the teens awkwardly shuffling around the dance floor facing away from each other with their arms locked.
Respondents to the video expressed their disbelief.
“I’ve said it before and it still applies. We are being punked as a species. And it is on every single person who accepts this crap,” said one.
“When the historians write this period, it will be a subject of incredible amazement and scorn,” added another.

I dread the questions we'll be asked.
"So did all people who didn't wear masks become infected"
"Did social distancing work"
"If the Chinese could eliminate it why couldn't we"
"So did all the people who worked in supermarkets die?"
"Did you believe in it?" -

Not great, we have had a big increase in cases as the weather has cooled, so the pubs and the like have been closed again.
Working from home right now - office is closed.
Various restrictions. Outbreaks in hospitals. When outbreaks happen in nursing homes it leads to casualties, otherwise it's not very deadly. I think young people are pissed off that they can't go to their discos. They're going to cancel Halloween, and probably Christmas. Socialising is very awkward.
Other than that, it's not so bad. -
2020-10-13 at 8:06 PM UTCI would love to work from home, unfortunately at the time we are not but we are also a small office of only 3 people and lots of space.
We're seeing big increases in several states here also. Each of our states acted differently on restrictions so I'm just waiting to see what happens where I'm at. Your casualty rate per 100,000 is much lower than the US's so I assume most people follow the restrictions and guidelines which is great and I'm sure make's you feel much safer. Here you can pretty much divide it down party lines like everything else here for years now. -

Healthcare in the US seems like a mess, and I feel so sorry when I see people doing gofundmes for cancer treatment and the like.
I dunno if our low death rate is due to our outstanding healthcare at all, although it's certainly not terrible.
It may be just due to us having a milder strain. For instance the strain that caused so much death in Spain and Italy earlier on this year has basically been acknowledged to be gone, and replaced by a milder form of the disease. Which is great. Diseases tend to become more mellow as they age, as killing or severely affecting their human hosts makes them less likely to be passed on.
I have no idea what the actual situation is in the US, all I have are media reports, none of which I trust. -
2020-10-13 at 8:48 PM UTCHealth care in the US is somewhat a mess, even though the ACA definately needs changes/improvements it's good in that it protects people with pre-existing conditions and allows low-income people to obtain insurance at affordable raates. Prior to it people with pre-existing conditions such as cancer werew charged outrages amounts for their insurance, if they could even get coverage, and were subject to lifetime limitations on coverage. Hopefully the US doesn't go back to if your sick your shit out of luck unless your weathy. It is very sad.

Why are you so naive when it comes to communist china?
You take everything else with a big grain of salt and a lot of skepticism. But when it comes to them you believe absolutely everything they say, without question. -

I'm shady on the provisions of the ACA, though it seems like it just provided an excuse to jack healthcare costs up, and this would be supported by increases in healthcare costs since it was enacted. Of course a lot of the real damage was done by George W. Bush.
America chooses the worst of both worlds. They are libertarians when it comes to allowing profiteering and refusing to use collective negotiation, and anorak socialist when it comes to medical regulation and refusing to allow a free market in healthcare.
That's how people like Techno wind up getting paid 100k to press a button on a CT machine.

China beat corona virus. Everyone acknowledges that.
So did New Zealand.
We could have beat it too here over the summer, when there were less than 10 new cases a day. I can only imagine why we chose not to. -

They tried to cover it up from day one, they arrested doctors who talked about it, millions of people left Wuhan.
Yet when the 'National Health Commission' tells you only a few thousand died, you just believe it, no questions asked?
Pretend a jedi told you that number. -

Well, first of all, a jedi wouldn't downplay such an event. In fact they'd probably tell me millions died, and they needed massive emergency aid and continuing ongoing economic aid. Non repayable, of course. -

No no, don't back out of this.
Please explain to me why you believe communist china - a third world country, where the virus started, where the government will do absolutely anything to save face, and controls all the media, and can censor at will - actually has a lower death rate than say, Japan. -

I'm not backing out of anything at all.
China isn't communist, it's fascist.
Third World means not in the sphere of influence of the West or the Soviet Union. China has pretty OK incomes. "Third World" is a meaningless pejorative.
"Where the virus started" - yeah, cos they made the virus. It's had time to adapt to it's surroundings since then.
"where the government will do absolutely anything to save face" - objectively not true.
"controls all the media, and can censor at will" - said like it's a bad thing.
"actually has a lower death rate than say, Japan." - that's moving the goal posts, and not what we were discussing. The thing we were discussing was that the Chinese beat the virus. It doesn't matter if every Chinaman died, and BennyVader is running all the iPhone factories alone right now - they beat the virus, yet we can't. -

Nothing is communist. Communism is a utopian fantasy from the 19th century. But communist china is still communist despite a workers utopia never existing, in much the same way Tom Cruise is a scientologist despite Xenu not being real.

'Developing country' then. I never thought you were so PC.

It hasn't been in China much longer than it's been in the United States, at this point.

China is an insecure old asiann man who wants everyone to think he knows everything writ large. Everything the CCP does is about saving face, at the expensive of everything. Global influence, diplomacy, human suffering - all sacrificed on the altar of appearing infallible.
As a recent example - they still haven't revealed the number of dead PLA soldiers in the Indian border clash. The Indian dead were given full state burials in public, where as the relatives of the chinese dead are threatened to stay silent. Probably because the numbers don't look good - SFF recruited form the mountains > PLA grunts from the lowlands.

There was no value judgment. But every piece of news has to align with the government view. And the government takes great pains to appear infallible.

If you believe that they defeated the virus, then you believe their statistics. I am asking you to take a critical look at why - given the facts - that would be true. -

Kibbutzim, anarchist squats and certain.'Developing country' then. I never thought you were so PC.
Is the opposite of developing dedeveloping? Or veloping? America is veloping. It hasn't been in China much longer than it's been in the United States, at this point.
But it left China. In fact if China can be believed it's been in the US longer than it has been in China.China is an insecure old asiann man who wants everyone to think he knows everything writ large. That could be correct and it may well be correct, but it doesn't seem true to me. At least at the higher levels. China is a giant bureaucracy, and roles are decided by examination. The high up communists are mostly engineers, for instance Xi Jinping is a chemical engineer. You can't bluff those valence layers, and you don't do well in examination by trying to save face.As a recent example - they still haven't revealed the number of dead PLA soldiers in the Indian border clash. Indians acting like victims. Nothing wrong with that - the real killers in history all acted like victims. There was no value judgment. But every piece of news has to align with the government view. And the government takes great pains to appear infallible.
The USA is close to civil war right now cos the media constantly undermines the government. If you believe that they defeated the virus, then you believe their statistics.
I don't believe the statistics. But I don't believe China got completely ravaged by Corona, so they beat the virus.I am asking you to take a critical look at why - given the facts - that would be true.
Cos they took the steps necessary, and didn't pussyfoot around cos of civil liberties, "freedom to travel", "right to travel" or because of any bizarre "great reset" agenda. -
