It's not like it's optional. I don't see the big deal in some sort of electronic fee system similar to how traffic tickets are tagged to license plates with cameras except the owners of roads (municipalities) could charge you money for using the road. It wouldn't cost very much per person and they would get the same or more money while also charging less taxes for everyone. The only money the road would get is based on how much it can profitably charge to sustain operations and maintenance, so it's run like a business instead of the usual pay whatever tax the man says and they waste most of it on their corrupt back room dealings and then you end up with places like california with one of the highest taxes in the country and also the most pot holes
