Are curved monitors worth the extra money?

Samsung seem to be doing them fairly cheap, for like €20 or so more than equivalent flat monitors. I'm pretty stingy, are they actually worth the extra?

no just code on a laptop. The small screen keeps your loops nice and tight. You think the people who wrote unix had 32" curved monitors?

depends on the size; needs to be wide enough to reach your peripheral vision without you having to sit too close.

no real benefit to coding or office work but they're fun for movies and games

In the future, monitors will be a 3D holographic globe that floats in mid air, which you can view from any angle.

Great, the spinning loaders will look really impressive as we wait for our word processors to start up.

The keyboards will also be made of light. It will be a light-based holographic panel, which responds to finger touch.

you can actually get laser keyboards now but nobody likes them because they're inaccurate and have no haptic feedback

These will float in mid air and will be very accurate.

I’d get one for gaymen if it was within $50 of a comparable flat monitor. Used one at a friends and it was fun, but yeah, no benefit for anything that isn’t supposed to be “immersive”. Also I’d stick money into better DPI and response time well before the whole curved thing

I inherited a 32" ultrawide curved monitor. I use it as my daily.
It's fan-fucking-tastic for watching those 2.35:1 movies or TV shows. For browsing the web or reading/writing, it's horrible. I'm twisting my head from side to side as I'm typing this. Quality is top notch tho. The curve works great if you're watching a movie from the focus of the parabola.
