2020-10-01 at 2:53 AM UTCarticle is dumb, specifically the part relating to overpopulation - when people talk about overpopulation they aren't typically referring to living space, rather the ability to feed and provide for the population. There is a limit to farming capacity and arable land.
I don't think that there was any real malice behind what's happening, nor would I really characterise it as a 'hoax'. People have and will die, but the lethality has been way overstated. The world panicked after seeing the scenes coming from China and western 'capitalist' states tried to do the same rolling shutdowns that China did in an attempt to contain it. China, being a centrally-controlled economy was able to entirely shut down economic output and divert it to other areas but economies held up by small private companies were not - many small businesses in the US and Europe were shut down so long that it's no longer feasible to reopen.
The idea that the country (any western country really) should be shut down because 'saving lives is more important than the economy' neglects to consider the fact that peoples' lives are also dependent on economic output - food and shelter aren't free, and that's without discussing psychological and health problems related to the lockdowns and prolonged social isolation. -

Sounds like a problem with the system. Saving lives is more important than saving the economy, and your whole post neglects to consider the fact that under a different, better economic system "saving lives is more important than the economy" would not be a controversial statement that requires scrutiny…

soon soviet submarines at mach 27. you no longer have 25 minutes but 90 seconds for coastal cities, 4 minutes for midwestern targets.
that really changes the strategy for Find a shelter and Duck and cover.
LA during a traffic jam. easily 10-15 million lives instantly vaporized or taking weeks to die from burns and radiation poisoning. -

i meant give it time.
i know it takes current systems 5 minutes to build up full hyperspeed if they ever do. but a newer technology will shorten time into fractions of the current time.
and even with older times, there are twice as many people in California than there was in the 1980s.
gridlock on the 405 or a even worse an elevated highway, not just LA but anywhere usa with the next turnoff 2-3 miles away. like a potato wedged between a piece of meat and an onion on a skewer over a bbq. nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. no duck, no cover. no slide. -
