We have both in the bay area. I always wondered where they go during winter and spring but they never leave. They just look like they arrive in the fall because most other birds take off south.

Crows and ravens and black birds like cooler weather I guess because they're black.

Before I separated with the wifey, there was this one large black bird (I think Ravens are bigger than Crows or maybe its a crow) it bopped its head around. would pick these sycamore tree pod and throw it at me in the backyard.

    liked fucking with our staffy

what's their deal. why do they play games with people?

hm, i once saw a mocking bird, our state bird, chasing a grackle(relative of ravens and crows) and the grackle made a sharp turn with the mocking bird right behind it, and the mocking bird went beak first into a steel lamp post. it died instantly.

i checked for breathing/pulse and it was dead as a door nail.

    apparently theyre (corvids) highly intelligent.

that was one of the coolest things ive ever witnessed. grackles also seem to recognize me, partly probably cause i always wear black which is their color.

i recall the ravens on the west coast which we dont have here. i thought it was strange they wouldnt accept food from people. they made the coolest noise and they were everywhere

Edit, crows also have funerals for their dead which is also really cool
