That's what I mean. The cheapest motel here is about 2.5 times the price of the cheapest apartment. A shitty motel is the price of pretty good apartment - something no working class person could afford.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

That’s why I think it’s maybe a credit thing ... no reason to spend that amount for such small quarters when you can pay the same for more space and privacy..unless you have no choice -

How does credit work in the US? It's just a score out of 1000, right?
I only found out that NZ has credit scores the other day. It never even gets discussed. Landlords are more big on previous references. I got this place while I had no income, I had to show them evidence of my cash savings, and provide references, and it was fine. -
