In the mid 80's I worked at a Lincoln Mercury dealership and if we didn't lock the doors on the cars bums would shit on the seats of new cars.
One time we found a dead bum in a used car.
Another time the lot kid found a dude dead by the dumpster, turned out he was the son of one of our best customers.

Hitchhiking across the country isnt for the weak-willed. Having a bisexual experience at the end of it, isnt either. It's a tale only few can tell and it's far more interesting than some fat slob who sits at their computer their whole life criticizing something like that while they gorge on cheese and watch price is right reruns all day.

Also interesting is candy "attempting" to insult §m£ÂgØL for getting a D in his B one time when shes a self admitted bisexual. Things that make you go hmmmm.

I'm think I'm gonna go get F'd in the A today just so I can say I've done it too.

But me,I've never been legit homeless. A little bit of couch surfing for a week or two at a time back in the day is about it, and sleeping under a parking ramp stairwell one night was the only night I ever didnt sleep inside of a house/apt/hotel except for going camping of course.

I like the stories about people traveling abroad, roaming the land and living for really really cheap. I might end up doing that in the relatively near future.

no u won't. Not if its avoidable.

lived in abandoned warehouse in scarborough with 4-9(it varied but never more than 9)for almost 10 months in the late 90's. lots of drunkeness, drugs, and fights. i seemed to avoid many of them somehow. probably too fucked up to fight i don't know. least we all were warm a whole winter. nice fires inside...it was great. we all got money somehow from somewhere/someone..or stole it...blankets, cash..a few of them guys made so good fucking booze. not sure who tipped the cops off but they came one day and our lil paradise was gone. it was nice not living by any rules just respect each other space, stuff...usually no problems. only probablems ever were sexual in nature at least half of us were in prison at some time or another so lots of TENSION. it was good knowing those guys...couple chicks had my back any time...in all ways imaginable.

they took down the warehouse about a year later. i think they put a gas station/autobody place..i think so any any way.

At any point during his 'adventure' he could have got on the phone and said 'ey papi, I need muchos pesos' and he could've been back home in his mommys bed within 24 hours.

It's not a genuine working class adventure. It's a trust fund kid LARPing as a poor person.

Hitching across country to have your ass used by a junkie is not an accomplishment.

I've done some serious couch surfing and slept in a car once or twice, mostly out of inebriation. I used to stay up all night then climb in a friends window and sleep on his couch. One time I came in the window and his dad was in his apartment and he just went to the loony bin.

There are kinda subsections of homeless people; youth, transitional/temporary and absolutely scitzo. They will all eventually become the latter if they stay in that kinda lifestyle. A great book to read on the subject of the "tent city" of lakeshore blvd in Toronto in the early 2000's is "Down to this" by Shaunessey Bishop Stahl. He gets off coke and goes to live with the hobo's and writes a book that endears you to the characters. It's kinda like Hunter S's "Hells Angels" in that he gets beaten up and it takes a while for them to warm up to him. It's a great book though, I enjoyed it.

Being homeless in a Canadian Winter takes dedication and is fucking brutal and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Fortunately there are enough safety nets where people don't really have to be homeless unless it's by choice, althuogh there is an affordable housing crisis, you can find temporary housing if need be. Hobo's also never need food, there are a ton of soup kitchens that give decent food. I've volunteered at them before and some eat better/healthier than most people. I imagine the states is a little harsher. Friends of mine have said hobo's in Las Vegas were insane.

    Yes exactly.

You learn that drug abuse isn't the answer.

You learn that you should grow your own wealth.

You learn that consumerism and materialism aren't what wealth is for.

And most importantly, you learn that most of the negative stuff that older people tell you is designed to keep you down to their level. Because they are losers.

I wish I could teach people here, but they don't want to hear it. I know I should stop, but deep down I'm just a big ol' care bear.
