Shellz, 37, a nurse from Houston, spends at least two hours a day with her husband playing a casino-style smartphone game called Jackpot Magic.

The app offers a variety of typical casino games to play, including their favorite, called Reel Rivals, a game in which players accrue points by playing a virtual slot machine. As in a real casino, players exchange money for coins to bet.
Unlike in a real casino, there is no way to win money back or earn a payout on coins.
But that has not stopped Shellz and her husband from spending about $150,000 in the game in just two years. She asked to use her in-game username so her family does not find out how much money they have spent on the game.
"We lie in bed next to each other, we have two tablets, two phones and a computer and all these apps spinning Reel Rivals at the same time," she said. "We normalize it with each other." -

Hell they probably SAVE money by doing it this way, as slots in real life give you the illusion of winning which makes people want to spend even more.

well bro isn't it kinda like how blizzard made people pay for "gold" and "items" using real money? I've never been a gambler before, at least not with casino games but I imagine it only being fun if you get real money
like if its all about the dopamine rush for this couple play games why not just get some video games that wont cost you 150k lol. playing games on the phone sucks anyways.

Yeah no I get that, I'm just saying if you're playing slots every single day, there really isnt a true point in cashing out as you're just gonna be giving it back over the course of the next few days/weeks anyway, unless you hit some crazy huge jackpot. That's why im saying their version of playing probably nets them the same lack of profits as if they were playing for real money. -

I saw him in the zone once, he had 3 laptops with different games. I think Keno and Poker and he was all cracked out dropping thousands of dollars on each screen and then he lost one of them and it was like $3000 and he just pulled out another credit card from a sleeve and kept going. He was like "oh I can make that back in an hour"
and then he spent the entire night on the computers and I think he did cocaine a few times. Every time I saw him that night he was like all proud and happy to show me his little setup and all his games.
I mean I guess it's something you can do if you have a lot of money and don't care if you lose it all. It doesn't look very fun to me. I am the same way with video games I guess but I don't spend any actual money on it, only my time and I have fun and do cool things instead of just playing some shitty casino game. -
