ironically...one of my first successful bombs that i made at the tender young age of about 10 years old (back literally a century ago so long past a statute of limitations expiration) was a fire extinguisher filled with ammonium nitrate, aluminum powder, and a couple of other ingredients. that was back in the day when ammonium nitrate was sold in 50-lb bags at any hardware store and aluminum powder of any powder size could be ordered from chemical supply warehouses without the BATF-tards driving a tank into your living room to arrest you.
it was buried in the dirt about two feet deep and left a crater about 20 feet wide and three or so feet deep.

when i was younger than 10 we used to take apart fireworks we bought in north carolina (they were illegal in NYC) and re-assembling them into empty battery canisters using epoxy. we used ideas from WW2 and vietnam books we found in the library. one that was made out of 3 or 4 'mortar' shells blew up our wood play-table in our club-house. (it was a 6'x6' with 5' walls wooden kids house) -

a lit fuse. it was a battery casing, covered with epoxy, and filled with the filler from a few dissected medium-sized mortar shells. it was just sitting on the table and apparently that one had an excess of epoxy sealing it because all the other ones just made a loud 'boom'...this one flat out exploded with a bang. -
