We are burning the lion's share of it in 200 years with a steep, exponential increase over the last 50. This equates to burning the fuel in .0000008 of the time it was generated (200/250,000,000). In the time scale of earth, we've essentially set off a planetary wide explosion more destructive than the Chicxulub impactor, the asteroid that is believed to have extinguished dinosaurs.
