Standing up to China requires unilateral support from a host of nations getting on the same page whicj Trump wont do for a ton of reasons but mostly because HE SUCKS AT MAKING DEALS AND EVERY OTHER COUNTRY LAUGHS AT HIM. Nobody takes him seriously and he isnt intelligent enough to understand diplomacy, international relations or even the world economy. Pulling out of the TPP on his first day is literally when his presidency peaked, as did the effectiveness of any anti China policy.
Hes not going to get any better. He thinks tariffs are the way to fight economic wars because hes stupid and doesnt know how these things work. He pushed Iran and a ton of other smaller countries into Chinas orbit by alienating them, pulling up American influence AND made Europe laugh at him. Uncle Sniffy is at least something different. When theres a new leader, world powers talk to them and see what they can do. Trump is such a dumbass he stonewalled relations with Americas traditional allies who could aid against the yellow peril. So he fucked over a bunch of soybean farmers and canadians and to his bootlicking supporters thats "standing up to China." Oh and he calls COVID the "China virus" which is mostly just funny
