    Yeah the mr. clean is an old school method that is a lot more technical instead of making the ammonia in situ you generate it separately. it is better to make your own ammonia but pointless if you not going to clean your pills first which most people dont know how or don't want to learn how to do.
    
    It is possible to generate your own ammonia in a much more simple way as shown in the OP post but it won't be completely dry if not passed through a drying agent like calcium chloride. It's still a lot better than a traditional shake and bake generating the ammonia in the reaction vessel because a lot of the time people run into issues with the reaction like this guy

    So I noticed nobody said anything about cleaning with methanol and super-saturating in high % isopropyl for recrystallization.
    Using the freezer takes longer, but bigger better crystals.

    One last thing that I wanted to add.
    I would never recommend using a soda bottle, as it is WHY explosions have been seen if ya know what I mean. They are relatively weak and can't handle the pressure.
    A Coca-Cola bottle starting streaming out of the side and it was time to throw it in a container and fucking RUN!
    Yes, it exploded. Also, Don't put lithium in with no solvent. Li is unstable as fuck.
    Burned the fuck out of my hands with it once and it fucking hurts :(
    
    If I may suggest - Powerade bottles seem to be able to take the pressure very well, but the best is a SodaStream bottle reinforced with Gorilla Tape IMO.
    Stay safe and don't blow yourselves up. You have been warned!
