nothing weird about it. the shot and bullet expansion missed the main blood vessels that are under higher pressure...and much harder to keep from leaking. all the damage is to muscle (the juicy gooey dark-maroon jelly) and the bleeding is, relatively speaking, minor. from the looks of it he doesnt even need a tourniquet if packing the wound stops the flow.
in all reality, the larger blood vessels are surprisingly resilient to gunshot wounds...even the old 'black talon' with the razor tips. (lying fucking doctors)
