No local businesses were destroyed. No private citizens were assaulted. No public thorofare was blocked for anyone. No one died during the Boston Tea Party. There was no violence and no confrontation between the Patriots, the Tories, and the British soldiers garrisoned in Boston. None of the members of the crews of the Beaver, Dartmouth, or Eleanor were harmed. They were protesting a tax on tea that was levied by a body in which they had no representation and a king who had demanded the colonies pay him for his expense fighting the French Indian War in the colonies. It was not a mob rule action. It was decided by the people and their local civic leaders (Including the Governor, Lt. Governor, and Chief Justice of the colony) to do one thing. Dump the tea in the harbor from three ships as an act of defiance against a tyrant. That is not a riot. -
