   - Surrounded by US allies
   - Unable to Finlandize anyone, not even Taiwan
   - Second fiddle to the US in the waters right off its coast
   - Completely reliant on Russian military technology

   Yes. At some point in history, it would've been very easy for the USSR and USA to make slave nations out of the rest of the world. Nuke a few capitals and make the rest of the world submit. Having to export products to the USA and USSR while receiving no compensation for eternity. Free travel for US and USSR citizens anywhere but no entry to the US or USSR for anyone else.
   
   The things that can be accomplished when nations work together.
