That model was before my time at Compaq. I was there 1997-2003.
It's sucks having to pay for Computer parts now...those $400 Pentium MMX processors fitted in the wallet so easily.

My employee number was in the 70,000 range...had a friend there whose number was sub 30...when he first started at compaq they used to pay him sometimes in stocks because of cashflow...we sat down one day and worked out how much that stock would have been worth now had he kept it (he sold it when he got it), we came up with about $6,000,000. He started to cry.
When we all got laid off I asked one of the forklift drivers what he was going to do, he said
"Retire"...he'd kept his stock and had about 2.2 mil worth...forklift driver, lol.

She messaged me to let me know about it..I don't usually look in the "half baked" sub forum what with it being a forum for people who lack the inner strength to cope with life without external stimulants.

Other great things working at Compaq.
Free vending machines
On site free Masseuse
100% coverage health insurance for all your family, zero out of pocket for anything
Employee day at Astroworld, (which changed to six flags)...the park was only open to Compaq employees for the day and it was all free
quarterly bonuses
free stock options
On site shrink, you could have up to 10 sessions per year for free.
On site gym free
Expense account that was monitored by my boss who was as shady as it comes so he approved everything. If we all went out on a Friday night he'd have me put the bill on my Compaq credit card and then approve it on Monday.
Travel all over the US, steak for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Then HP came along and fucked it all up.
The following users say it would be alright if the author of this

When Compaq bought DEC I was one of the ones who was sent up to DEC HQ in Massachusetts to transition what functions we were going to close down there and relocate to Houston. There were 4 of us from Compaq and 6 or so DEC guys facing each other across the table, they were pissed because it meant they were going to have to lay off a bunch of their guys.
4yrs or so later we were sent back to DEC, sat at the same table, facing the same people to transition the work being done in Houston back to Massachusetts because we were all getting laid off...they had big smiles on their faces that visit...and the steaks were less palatable.

My brother is an electrical engineer and worked in sales for HP for a while.
Smiling thinking he may have helped get Jiggle Booty shit canned.
