Their heatwaves are 25C+, I think.
You're in a state capital, right? I spent a summer in Melbourne, and yeah it got above 40. But at the same time... Melbourne is built to deal with heat. Everywhere has aircon and it's fine, it feels normal.
30 degrees in New Zealand just feels weird and un-natural. Like it isn't supposed to happen. It's hard to explain.
Or maybe it's easy to explain - you know how people in Brisbane think Sydney is 'cold' (lol) ? Yeah this shit is all relative. -

lul, I almost never use air conditioning because my parents rarely ran it as a kid because of how much power it uses and I sort of just got used to dealing with the heat.
Sydney gets to almost 50 at times but yeah, up north it's a lot more consistently hot30 degrees in New Zealand just feels weird and un-natural. Like it isn't supposed to happen. It's hard to explain.
sounds like one of Frankie Boyle's lines, talking about when it gets hot in Glasgow 'it feels vaguely sinister, like someone's left the stove on' -

Yeah I spent my melbourne summer without aircon, and it sucked tbh. I mean I didn't die but I wasn't enjoying myself. I dealt with stuff pretty well for a kiwi fresh off the boat, but I'm not as hardcore as you.
